Program participants must be enrolled in a Boston Public High School. We're looking for students who have some interest in the arts, sciences, entrepreneurship, or simply those who want to explore creative ideas. We want to engage students who can benefit most from a positive after-school experience. These may be the same young people who have some difficulty engaging with traditional education opportunities or may be "overlooked" for other programs, but you are able to see their great potential.

How does the ArtScience Prize support me and my school?

• By committing our resources, time, and energy to BPS teens, we are saying to your high school students: "We believe you can do amazing things." This not only speaks to the students, but sends a powerful message to the greater community that BPS students are worth investing in.
• We’re helping to provide your students with incentive for learning, access to new opportunities, and building 21st century skills that will prepare them for tomorrow.
• The ArtScience Prize provides arts, science, and general education opportunities that are often infeasible within the school day due to resource and time restrictions.
• The high school of the winning team who travels to Le Laboratoire will receive $10,000 to recognize its important work in supporting Boston Public Schools students. Schools also receive public recognition of their work through press events attended by Mayor Menino, a champion of the ArtScience Prize.

Is this connected to Superintendent Johnson's Acceleration Agenda?

Absolutely! The ArtScience Prize helps Boston Public Schools to offer the best education possible to all of its students by supporting increased engagement in learning and helping to build skills in project development and presenting their ideas. It also provides an easy way for schools to leverage their resources for students by partnering with the Cloud Foundation, a community-based arts education organization. The ArtScience Prize will enhance students' learning, expand their access to out-of-school enrichment opportunities, and broaden the network of supportive adults that are helping Boston Public High School students to reach their goals.
